May my child(ren) utilize the public school transportation system?
Students are not able to utilize the public school transportation system because we are a homeschool cooperative rather than a school.
May my child(ren) participate in athletics in the public school?
In the state of Minnesota, children who are homeschooled are allowed to participate in athletics in public school. However, they must participate in their residing district.
Are there any scholarships available to assist with tuition?
As people express their need for tuition assistance, we will first contact their local church on their behalf to see if they would assist with a personal scholarship, love offering, or fundraiser. We are open to creative ways to reduce this burden and will come alongside to help and support families; however, Pinewood Academy simply does not have the funds to provide scholarships at this time.
What is the schedule at Pinewood Academy?
The cooperative will begin at 8:15 am and run until 3:15 pm. We will be operating on a 4-day school week, Tuesday through Friday. On weeks where holidays fall on a Friday, we will have classes on Monday.
May I volunteer at Pinewood Academy?
Yes! We are looking for many volunteers for a variety of areas whether it be to teach a special class, read to students, tutor, or just be an extra set of helping hands in the classroom. If you have something you can offer, we would love to have you. All volunteers will be required to complete an application and a background check prior to serving.
What is CLEP Testing?
CLEP exams cover intro-level college course material in 33 subjects. A
passing score on a CLEP exam earn students transferable credits to most colleges in Minnesota. If planned properly, a highly motivated student can graduate high school with an Associates of Arts Degree as well.
How much does a CLEP exam cost?
Typically, a CLEP exam costs $85 with a testing center fee. However, through Modern States Education Alliance, students are able to have the exam cost and testing center fee paid on their behalf. See the Modern States website for more information.
