We Have Good News!

02/07/2019

After much prayer, discussion, and research, Heartland Lakes Christian School will open in the fall of 2019 in Park Rapids, MN. God has been faithful to provide all the logistics needed to make our final leap of faith and say yes to this great endeavor. Community of Hope Church of Park Rapids is offering a designated space for a small fee, two teachers have committed to work as staff with an undetermined salary, and 7 families have committed to enroll 12 students into the school this fall.

Though it has small beginnings, it is enough to move forward in faith. Everyone involved is very excited to see what the Lord will do - which brings us to you. We at Heartland Lakes, would like to ask you for help. We have many needs and are hoping we will find individuals and churches to become our partners whether it be in prayer, financial, enrolling students, serving on the board, and/or volunteering. Would you partner with us to prepare our students to become ambassadors for Christ in a culture that is becoming increasingly hostile to the things of God?

THIS QUARTER'S TOP NEED'S

Prayer

Satan is the master deceiver, and he desperately wants us to think that Christian education is not really important. He will attack Heartland Lakes Christian School from every direction. Surely we will receive hostility for not supporting public education or for being discriminatory in the students we accept or do not accept. He will cast doubt and work to discourage us. Will you please stand in prayer on our behalf. Pray for encouragement, protection, and clear leadership. Pray that the school will thrive even if it remains small. We realize not all students need to attend a Christian school, but for those parents/guardians who cannot homeschool and do not feel they can navigate the public school system well, we want them to have this option. They need this option.

Financial Contribution

Private schools receive no public funding for education. While we can receive small non-secular services such as transportation from the public school, we will rely solely on faith through tuition, donors, grants, scholarships, and fundraising to operate. We must work to keep tuition affordable for parents while at the same time bring in enough revenue to cover some expenses. We are in need of individuals and churches to partner with us financially whether it be as a one time gift, a monthly sponsorship, or providing a scholarship for families in need. Would you consider helping us financially in some way?

Volunteering

The opportunities to volunteer at Heartland Lakes Christian School are many. We are in need of several people to come alongside us to help make our school exceptional. Currently, we are hoping to have the following outside partnerships:

  • Weekly Piano Lessons

  • Weekly Fall and Spring Homeschool Partnership for Physical Education (softball, tennis, kickball, and other group games)

  • Weekly volunteering (or pay) for special classes, skills, or activities (Christmas program, crocheting, wood burning, photography, cooking, desktop publishing, scrapbooking, sewing, woodworking, drawing, etc...)

Enrolling Students

Though Heartland Lakes Christian School does not need more students to move forward, we would welcome them. We are looking for students of Christian families who desire to be discipled and educated in a Godly environment. We are accepting students in all grades (preschool to grade 12). Our tuition rates are as follows:

  • 1st Child: $225 per month

  • 2nd Child: $175 per month

  • 3rd+ Child: 125 per month

Board of Trustees

Heartland Lakes Christian School is in need of several Godly men and women willing to serve on the Board of Trustees. Since we are in the beginning stages of opening the school, the work will be more than usual for the first several months. We will need board assistance and approval of all forms including: enrollment, staff applications, student handbook, statement of faith, mission and values, 501c3 status, and interviewing and hiring staff. The Board of Trustees would meet monthly and would be strictly a volunteer position without pay.
